Karl is a founding partner, creative director and designer at Kandi. With over 20 years experience in design, brand development and campaign work, Karl is the creative head at Kandi.
Over the years Karl has helped develop design solutions for a wide range of clients, helping them define and advance their uniqueness. He has been part of building successful new brands and repositioning existing ones. He has done work across several industry sectors, helping corporates and large organisations such as Unicef, Vodacom, Grolsch, Standard Bank and Samsung, as well as smaller businesses, both local and abroad. Karl’s expertise lies in graphic design, brand development, layout design and environmental design. He has a keen eye for detail, great time management skills and always aims to deliver the best results.
Karl grew up in Johannesburg. He studied graphic design at the Nelson Mandela University in Port Elizabeth, where he graduated receiving Cum Laude for his degree and the Sappi Think Ahead Award for his final years work. Prior to his creative tuition, Karl also studied to become a pilot, acquiring his private license with the addition of night rating and conversion on 4 aircrafts. Karl spent 10 years living and working in London as a senior graphic designer. In 2010 he relocated to Cape Town to launch Kandi with his wife Ida.
