Sh(e)aring is caring!

COVID CUTS SA is a movement inspired by compassion in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. We aim to turn Mzanzi into a hero nation, one stay-at-home hair cut at a time. The unprecedented effect of COVID-19 pandemic is catastrophic. Its effects are devastating, especially for our most vulnerable, our youth and our aged. It is, however, a catalyst for some extraordinary nation-shaping ideas. Like this one, COVID CUTS SA.

Everyone can get involved and be a part of this head-turning initiative. COVID CUTS SA supports President Ramaphosa’s prudent #stayathome #lockdown campaign. During this time, it is not possible to visit your local barber or hairdresser. While our nation comes to grips with our new normal from coast to coast, the fact remains that manes still need taming and mouths still need feeding. What do these two concepts have in common, we hear you ask?

The long and the short of it is, COVID CUTS SA’s concept is simple and the outcome, styling. The initiative aims to raise R50,000 for children and elderly in need. The maxim ‘Cut Out Hunger with your Fresh Trim’ hopes to galvanise support for the south peninsula township community of Masiphumelele. All donations go to Cape Town-based NPO, Masi Creative Hub.

The idea is to try your hand at a home haircut. With the money you save, show your solidarity by donating the sum you would have spent to Masi Creative Hub. Nominate a trusted member of your lockdown party to trim, shave or style your quiff. Want to be a cut above the rest? Get the whole family (fur-kids included) in on the action. If you’re more of a one-man band and prefer to shape your destiny yourself, show us how its done. Undercuts, buzz cuts, box cuts…the more creative and daring you are, the more fun you’ll have.
