Escape + Explore is a guide and travel company offering pioneering African tours perfectly suited to their customers unique needs.
They create bespoke, authentic and transformational experiences, many of which are a first-of-their-kind in Africa. Each adventure is carefully crafted and executed by their professional, knowledgeable and hands-on guides. You can choose between their award-winning Cape private adventures or mind-blowing wildlife and adventure experiences further afield.
Apart from creating personal experiences for your ordinary folk, their clients also include A-list celebrities, industry leaders and sporting legends, such as Elon Musk, Jack Ma, Walmart CEO, Starbucks Founder, and the World Surf Champion, to name a few.
Challenge
The brief was to update Escape + Explore website design and create a brochure that would encompass the unique offerings and ethos of the brand. Whereas the brand transforms the way you experience Africa, their marketing material needed to be lifted to match.
Our aim was to create a quality website and brochure to match the quality of Escape + Explores offerings. The content strategy, design, structure and copy needed updating.
Outcome
Escape + Explore needed a concise way of articulating its unique values. Escape, See, Taste, Touch, Explore – these were the key drivers that we looked to express.
We developed a visual language that communicates the brands core values and speaks to immersive and experiential travel. The content strategy and structure for both the brochure and website was developed with this in mind.
The old website was out of date, both the content, visuals and code. The new Escape + Explore website design was developed in WordPress, and responsive across all devices/screens. One of the key challenges with the website was to cover all the offerings in a concise way without loosing depth. We did so by implementing drop-downs where more text was needed, and we made sure that we visually represented the unique immersive travel appropriately.
We also produced a brochure to tell their story which was used at Africa’s biggest tourism conference. The brochure used clever printing techniques and innovative folding to create an experiential and tangible product that reflected their brand message.

Escape, see, taste, touch + explore
The brochure was an important vehicle to showcase the brand off-line at the ‘We are Africa’ conference. We used clever fold-outs and innovative die cuts that would double up as business cards. For the cover we used blind spot UV printing, creating a subtle yet effective texture that ties back into the experiential and tangible story of the company.
