Muizenberg, the home of creatives, artists, bakers, surfers, skaters and musicians, have had the pleasure in welcoming a new surf and skate store to the mix. Rolling Wood, the coolest surf and skate store in South Africa, and also the friendliest, a la Muizenberg style. It is an inviting place to relax and hang out after a surf. Stocking a range of surfboards, skateboards, handslides, wetsuits, swimwear, and magazines, along with great coffees, fresh sandwiches, homemade yoghurts and a selection of other scrumptious treats.
The target market is mixed, both young and old; skaters, surfers, mums, dads, trendy hipsters, local artists and international visitors. The brand needed to be ‘non-exclusive’, friendly yet upmarket, and that could encompass the variety of customers.
Outcome
Rolling Wood asked Kandi to develop an identity that is modern, inviting, clean and open. The additional handcrafted element to the ‘and’ typeface adds a local and softer touch to the strict san-serif uppercase font used elsewhere. A classic navy and gold colour palette gives the brand an upmarket feel.
Apart from branding and store signage, we also consulted on overall shop layout, interior design concepts and staff uniforms.
