UNEP International Ozone Day The Ozone Secretariat is the Secretariat for the Vienna Convention for the Protection of the Ozone Layer and for the Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer. The Secretariat is based at the United Nations Environment Programme offices in Nairobi, Kenya. In September each year, the parties of the Montreal Protocol celebrate the International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer.
Outcome
The theme for 2014’s UNEP International Ozone Day event, ‘Ozone Layer Protection – Protecting Ozone: Protecting you!’ highlighted the fact that efforts to protect the ozone layer continue in earnest and encouraged action to address future challenges.
Along with conceptualising the branding of the year’s event, posters and outdoor banners, a calendar for 2015 was also created and distributed to parties across the world. The receiving parties use the event artworks to organise their own specific events to commemorate the day.
